Millburn Township Green Team Puts Down Roots on MMS Grounds

On May 8, 2017, I was able to interview Catherine Cohen Dorum, “an avid gardener and Hartshorn Habitat volunteer” who thought of and put into action the project of planting trees around Millburn Middle School.

Dorum had first brought the Middle School tree planting idea to the Millburn Green Team, who supported and assisted the project.

On May 8th, Township Forrester, Tom Doty, and his team planted the trees near the right wing of the middle school. The middle school now has four Red Buds and 3 Magnolia Stellata, making a total of seven gorgeous trees by the side entrance where many students, teachers, parents, and residents can enjoy them.

This tree planting project has three stages, the first of which was completed on May 8th.

Dorum plans to complete the three stages over the next few years, with help from the Green Team and Town Forrester, Tom Doty. Dorum hopes “to further enhance the exterior of the Middle School in all seasons for all to enjoy.”
