Mr. Huneryager, the conductor of the 7th and 8th grade choruses, and a music teacher for 6th and 7th grade is now leaving the school; he’s retiring at the end of the month. Mr. Huneryager has been a dedicated member of the Millburn Middle School faculty for the past twelve and a half years.

To understand his experience at Millburn Middle School and what he is going to do after he is leaving the school, I interviewed Mr. Huneryager.

Q: What was the best part of being a teacher at MMS?

A: “The students. I enjoyed the students and their families.”

Q: How would you rate your experience (out of ten) at Millburn Middle School?

A: “An eight.”

Q: What is one feedback you could give to the 7-8 Chorus?

A: “Don’t give up singing.”

Q: What voice do you have? (Tenor, bass)

A: “I am a bass or baritone.”

Q: What job did you have, before you came to Millburn Middle School?

A: “I taught high school music for four years in Chicago, and then for many years I was a performer. I was with Phantom of the Opera for 10 years.”

Q: What was your favorite song of all time?

A: “I would say I have many favorites in many types of music.”

Q: Who is your favorite musician of all time?

A: “I would say again that I have many favorites depending on the style of music.”

Q: When will you be leaving the Middle School?

A: “I’ll be leaving at the end of January.”

Q: Which place are you going to after leaving Millburn Middle School?

A: “I’ll still be living here and I will be returning to what I was doing before.” (Mr. Huneryager was a performer before he was at the Middle School.)

Mr. Huneryager has served this school by teaching his chorus classes and his music classes, alike, to love music. In all, thank you Mr. Huneryager for your enormous contribution to the Millburn Middle School Music Department!
