Color a Smile
May 1, 2020
It is too common that elders develop depression in later life. Unfortunately, senior citizens are feeling more alone than ever before with COVID-19 because there are no visitors to ensure their safety during the outbreak. Troops overseas may feel homesick, and other people fighting battles against illness or other maladies may be under the weather as well. Luckily, Color a Smile is a local organization that has been in operation for over twenty-five years to help these people in need of kindness and a smile.
Based in nearby Morristown, New Jersey, Color a Smile provides coloring sheets for people of all ages to color and send where they are then distributed to the people who need it. They have four simple steps; print, color, sign, and mail. Now with the virus, their message is stronger than ever before.
My sister and I both spent hours coloring in the cute line art, and knowing that it’s for a good cause makes the relaxation that more satisfying. If you would like to try your hand at it, use the link https://colorasmile.org/volunteer/ where they have information on how to help. There are a few simple guidelines to follow, so be sure to read the instructions carefully before you begin. The next time you want to color or doodle, try checking out Color a Smile to brighten more than your day.
